Last week we looked at different ways in which you can advertise your business. Of course, there is more than one way to promote a beauty business, and many methods don't have to cost you a penny.
Most people think they know what is on offer at a beauty salon, but unless they are regular clients somewhere, they are probably unaware of all the things that are now on offer. This is where you can take advantage and get the name of you and your salon into the local limelight.
A local newspaper can provide a great audience, and you don't always need to pay for advertising to enjoy it. People are always enticed by a freebie, so call your local newspaper offices and ask to speak to an editor or reporter who might be interested in coming for a free treatment at your salon. Make sure you offer something new or unique that they could consider newsworthy and they may well give you an interesting write up in the paper or online.
Open days are great ways to let people know what you offer, and again, inviting the local press can be valuable. Throw open your doors, have a few refreshments on offer, decorate your salon and offer a selection of taster treatments that only take a few minutes so visitors become desperate to book in for more. You could also offer a discount on any treatments booked on the day.
Getting involved in local community groups can be a great way to network. There may be other people who can help to promote or boost your business, so don't be afraid to put yourself forwards. Don't be intimidated by those around you, many will be interested in the knowledge and experience of a well trained therapist. You could look at providing a talk and demonstration to the group to show them what you can do. Many will consider a facial treatment to be a glorified version of the cleanse, tone and moisturise mantra, so why not take along a Goddess machine like the Minipeel to demonstrate a microdermabrasion or microcurrent facial. If the audience can see the results first hand, they are more likely to want to book in and try it for themselves.
There are a massive range of groups available to take part in, including business and breakfast groups. There are also a wide range of women's groups, mother and baby groups or even health and slimming groups. Don't forget that there are different communities within the wider community, so reach out to those who sometimes feel left out, such as different ethnic communities, or even trans and gay groups. Having a therapist that people know and trust makes them much more likely to visit your business.
Remember to make use of everything your suppliers have to offer. Suppliers such as Goddess International can offer you a range of marketing materials and support to help you get your business noticed and drive clients through your doors.
